Christmas 2016

img_6877Today was just like a dream. Kate asked me what color my day was as I put her to sleep last night and I said yellow! definitely yellow! in fact it was  golden day ! A couple months ago we told the kids that we would be giving gifts of service instead of spending money this year.We explained that he would still get gifts from Santa, grandma and grandpa, and Gigi. We decided to use our small budget to do the 12 days of Christmas for another family, which brought miracles to us. We participated as much as he could in the 25 days of Christmas initiative put out by the church . I can’t help but feel like since we were centered on service there was an outpouring of love on Christmas Day as a gift from above. After going to church, (I stayed home with Kate because she is sick) we opened presents. My favorites were the thoughtful gifts that were given by the children to their siblings and to Jeremy and I. I will always cherish the handwritten letters coupons for massages and cleaning the kitchen for a week.  Hope made Dallin a comic strip of the ninja sheep and a cat that she pretended  was real for Jeremy out of a beanie from the dollar store. it was great to see his reaction when he thought there was a live kitten in the garage! ha ha Wilson spent all the money that he had even gift cards from last Christmas and presents for everyone else. They were fun and thoughtful gifts.Dallin bought a cat card and wrote the seetest words to his dad.  I cried when I heard it and when I read Hope and Wilsons letters to me they both started with” to the perfect mother” which clearly I’m not, but knowing that they think I am good enough, and as perfect as I can be, that touched me deeply. I is something that I’ve always yearned to hear and to be for them.  My heart is filled to overflowing for what seems like a simple Christmas with our family at home was truly like what each child described at least once…”the best part Christmas ever!” It is is one I will always remember .
