We noticed Jeremy had a weekend off of school and we wanted to make the most of it. we went to the nearby mountains and felt as if we were a world away! I live for these moments when we are together in the beautiful outdoors.
we hiked, a lot. discovered a fort. had a tinfoil lunch and hot dog dinner.
As we sat around the campfire we shared our testimonies, each child’s was sincere and powerful. After Wilson shared his feelings of the truthfulness of the Scriptures in a way that only a person who has consistently studied them can do, and in a peaceful setting where we were alone in a grove of trees, I shared with my family once again the story of the first vision. I told them to think of Wilson who was almost the same age as Joseph Smith when he searched diligently to know truth about religion. I asked how many 14-year-old boys they knew who would do that! I recited Joseph’s account in his own words of what happened on a spring morning when he knelt to pray in a grove of trees simply to know what church was true. Then, our Little forest became a sacred place. I wanted my children to know that in the upcoming years they will hear lies about the prophet Joseph Smith and Jesus’s church on the earth today. I wanted them to hear from their mothers lips that I know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that he saw the things he said he saw. As I shared the account of God the father and Jesus Christ appearing to Joseph as a 14-year-old boy, two deer came walking up slowly behind me. They stood completely still until I finished and then ran away. Jeremy told the kids that they wanted to come and hear the story too!😉Then Jeremy added his witness of what I said. I know Dallin’s highlight of the trip was getting to pee on the campfire, 😜…but someday one of these children might remember that moment on a spring day, and it may just be what they need to hold onto during times of Darkness or doubt.
